Does your SEO strategy revolve around excessively doing backlinking, and pushing the fold even when you know it’s gone too far? Well, hold your horses. Google’s got a fix for that. According to information released by Matt Cutts, Google is starting to penalize websites that “over-SEO.” This is an attempt to level the playing field.
There are many websites out there that have excellent content, but simply don’t have the budget and can’t compete with websites, that often have weak websites, but deep pockets, and thus compensate for weak content with excessive SEO. Matt unveiled this a few weeks ago, and mentioned that websites which have excessive SEO will see that the SEO they do is ineffective. We at SONI Consultants, think that the unnatural link velocity messages received by numerous webmasters may be linked to this new policy by Google for penalizing websites that do excessive SEO. If you don’t know what i’m referring to, then let’s back track a little.

If you engage in SEO practices, that are grey/blackhat and received this webmaster tools message, followed by a decrease in rankings – you need to consult your SEO provider and find out what strategies they employed. High PR networks, such as BMR-Build My Rank- or ALN-Authority Link Network- have been noted as culprits. Such networks provided a free/cheap source of high quality PR backlinks, all of which were great for the short term, but had long term negative consequences.
